Next Leadership Conference will be in 2011
Because of severe budget constraints and recent reductions in Ohio’s Ryan White Part B Program funding, the Ohio AIDS Coalition, the Ohio Department of Health HIV CARE Services Section, the Ohio Department of Health HIV/STD/Adult Viral Hepatitis Prevention Program and the Pennsylvania/MidAtlantic AIDS Education & Training Center have decided not to produce a Leadership Conference this year (2010).
Our plan is to resume the conference sometime in the Fall of 2011.
We will keep you informed as we move forward with the planning of the next conference. In the meantime, please feel free to contact Kevin Sullivan at sullivan@ohioaidscoalition or 1-800-226-5554 for more information.
World AIDS Day Leadership Conference
November 16 -17, 2009
The 2009 World AIDS Day Leadership Conference was held in Columbus November 16-17 and was attended by 459 participants, 87 of whom took part in the November 15 pre-Conference program for people living with HIV.
With 40 workshops and 4 plenary sessions, the 2009 Conference offered participants numerous educational opportunities regarding all aspects of HIV prevention, care and treatment.
This year's Conference was produced by the Ohio AIDS Coalition, the Ohio Department of Health HIV CARE Services Section, the Ohio Department of Health HIV/STD/Adult Viral Hepatitis Prevention Program and the Pennsylvania/MidAtlantic AIDS Education & Training Center.
The Conference Planning Committee worked diligently with sponsors to provide a free conference that addressed issues affecting all those working and living within the HIV/AIDS spectrum. Our hope is to once again offer an affordable Conference in 2011 that will be open to everyone impacted by HIV/AIDS.
THANK YOU!
Particular credit is due the AIDS Taskforce of Greater Cleveland; AIDS Resource Center Ohio; Columbus AIDS Task Force; Cincinnati STD HIV Prevention Training Center; The Ohio State University AIDS Clinical Trials Unit; Case Western Reserve / University Hospitals of Cleveland AIDS Clinical Trials Unit; Care Alliance Health Center of Cleveland; and the Ryan White Part B Program Consortia for their help in planning this year’s program.
Thanks also to National Association of People With AIDS (NAPWA) for sponsoring the Sunday, November 15 pre-Conference program.
And finally, thanks to all the individuals and organizations around Ohio who participated in this year’s Conference. We hope to see you all again in 2011.
